Our Story
The Stremler family has owned and operated Alpine Meadows Christmas Tree Farm for over 35 years. Prior to 1982, a partnership of four—Simon L. Stremler, Lewis Stremler, Ken Stremler, and Gerrit Vander Griend—raised food crops in the beautiful South Fork Nooksack River Valley. Ken always had a dream of having a Christmas tree farm, so in 1982, he talked his father Simon, brother Lewis, and friend Gerrit into starting what is now Alpine Meadows Christmas Tree Farm.
Originally planning to provide trees for the wholesale market, the farm grew dramatically and at one time managed about 250 acres of trees. Trees from the farm were shipped coast to coast, from Mexico to Alaska. In 1985, the choose and cut operation was started at the farm headquarters in Deming, WA—the same farm that now sees thousands of families each Christmas season.
Over the years, several partners have been involved in Alpine Meadows, eventually being bought out by the original dreamer, Ken Stremler. A business of love, Ken’s passion is to provide the highest quality of trees and a great family experience to the many U-cut customers who visit the farm annually.
U-Cut Operation
At Alpine Meadows, we celebrate the true reason for the season; thus, we have chosen to be closed on Sundays. We want to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas.
At Alpine Meadows, we’re all about the customers. The smiles we see on the faces of our customers when they find the perfect tree are what keep us going through the season. We look forward to helping our customers create new family traditions or continue old ones. Whether you and your family have been coming to Alpine Meadows for years, or you’re thinking about visiting for the first time, we can’t wait to see you, and we hope your Alpine Meadows tree is the most beautiful addition to your home this Christmas Season!
Wholesale Operation
While we love our U-cut operation, we are first and foremost a wholesale tree grower and supplier. We have 22 acres of trees at our on-site farm in Deming (the one you visit to choose a U-cut tree), but we have multiple other field locations scattered around Whatcom County. These ‘off-site’ fields produce thousands of trees that are sent all over the place (and also to some local stores) for pre-cut sales and are where we source all of the trees for our pre-cut racks.
